Note: American collector, railroad builder, and philanthropist; builder of the Great Northern Railway. Hill owned 18 paintings by Corot and other works by Fromentin, Decamp, Puvis de Chavannes, Millet, Troyon, Bouguereau, Banvin, Cazin, Henner, Laurens, Jules Breton, Daubigny, Dupré, Delacroix and Diaz. Hill was a member of the Union, Metropolitan, Manhattan, Jekyl Island, Down Town, and New York Yacht Clubs.
