Dodd, Thomas (English printseller, auctioneer, and author, 1771-1850)
|
Note: In 1796 Dodd opened his first print shop in Lambeth Marsh, London. In 1798 he relocated to Covent Garden, which was frequented by many of the leading printmakers, collectors, and connoisseurs of the day. By 1806 his stock had grown so large that he moved to premises in St Martin's Lane, where he also began to hold auctions. He wrote a memoir of his youth as an itinerant musician, and histories of the art of engraving. |
