Note: Christian apostle, converted after the death of Jesus of Nazareth; credited with spreading the gospel to the early 1st-century world; he founded several churches in Asia Minor and Europe. 14 books in the Biblical New Testament have traditionally been attributed to Paul; 7 of the epistles are undisputed by scholars as being authentic. Paul is considered to have been a historical person, but much of his legend is not known to be based in fact.
