Note: Victorian socialite and the wife of Sir Henry Meux, 3rd Baronet (1856-1900), the London brewer. A collector of art; she was particularly noted for her collections of Egyptian art and Ethiopian manuscripts from Maqdala. Whistler painted her portrait in 1881-1882 ("Harmony in Pink and Gray: Valerie, Lady Meux").
