Mansart, Jules Hardouin (French architect and garden designer, 1646-1708)

Note: Student and great-nephew of François Mansart (1598-1666), architect. He directed the construction and design of Versailles from 1678 and designed the Dôme des Invalides from 1679 to 1691, which was added to the existing church begun in 1670, Paris. Ennobled in 1683, and became the Baron de Jouy, and then the Comte de Sagonne in 1693. Attained the post of "Superintendant des bâtiments du roi" in 1699.
