Jones, Hugh G. (Canadian and American painter and architect, 1872-1947)
|
Note: Born 3 December 1872; died 16 February 1947. Jones studied at the University of Minnesota and with George E. Bertrand in Minneapolis. Jones practiced as a designer and renderer in Chicago and New York. He came to Montréal in 1908 and became assistant chief architect to the Canadian Pacific Railway. He began an independant practice in Montréal in 1912. Jones acted as an architect with Ross & Macdonald as architects and John M. Lyle as an associate architect on the design for the Toronto Union Station, Toronto, Ontario (1914- 21). Jones was an accomplished water-colourist and pictorial photographer. Jones was a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and an Academician of the Royal Canadian Academy. Canadian architect. |
