De Koven, John (American banker, 1833-1898)

Note: American capitalist, born in Middletown, CT. He was employed at the banking house of J.H. Burch & Co and later a cashier at The Merchant's National Bank and the North Western National Bank. He married Helen Hadduck, the daughter of a prominent merchant in Chicago on February 16, 1858 and had one daughter, Louise De Koven Bowen. Helen died in 1886 and De Koven remarried Annie Larrabee on April 8, 1890. He died of influenza on April 30, 1898.
