Note: Connoisseur who specialized in Chinese art. He spent years in Asia studying the language and culture of China and Japan, and became an expert in Chinese ceramics, which formed the basis of his collecting. He acted as honorary adviser to the Palace Museum, Beijing, 1928-1929. |
