Lairesse, Renier de (Flemish artist, ca.1597-1667)

Note: The pupil of Jan Taulier, whose daughter he married, Renier de Lairesse did decorative painting on wood (marbling and imitation precious stones). He was the principal painter of Ferdinand of Bavaria, Elector of Cologne. Four of his sons were painters: Gérard, Ernest, Jacques and Jan Gérard.
