Martins, Aldemir (Brazilian painter, 1922-2006)
|
Note: Well-known in the panorama of plastic arts in Brazil, Martins is popularly known for his paintings of cats. He is also known for his works representing the Brazilian culture, such women from Bahia, cangaceiros [outlaws], portraits, and still-life. In the state of Ceará, his homeland, he was one of the founders of the Sociedade Cearense de Artistas Plásticos. He moved to São Paulo in 1946, where he lived for the rest of his life. |
