Dollfus, Jean (French industrialist and collector, 1823-1911)
|
Note: Dollfus began collecting in 1846, built a house, Geisbühl, near Mulhouse (Alsace). He retired from business in 1860. After the war of 1870 he exiled himself from Alsace and went to Paris where he installed himself in an hotel of l'avenue Montaigne. He continued collecting paintings. He bought property in Rue de Morny where he built his gallery. |
