Albrecht Dürer Workshop (German workshop, established 1495)
|
Note: Workshop opened by Dürer in Nuremberg in 1495; it produced prints and paintings. Early output of the workshop was primarily woodcuts; probably specialist craftsmen block cutters in the workshop cut the wood blocks from Dürer's designs. Due to the process of cutting, which involved pasting the drawing to the block, the drawings were destroyed during the cutting of the block. During this early workshop period, it is believed that Dürer trained himself in the difficult art of engraving plates with the burin. For the modern repository that includes a partial recreation of the physical workshop space, use "Albrecht-Dürer-Haus." |
