Note: English antiquary, collector and writer. He was the son-in-law of William Dugdale and the beneficiary and legatee of the collections of John Tradescant the elder and younger. Ashmole donated most of his collection, his antiquarian library and priceless manuscripts to the University of Oxford to create the Ashmolean Museum. |
