Yi Jeonggeun (Korean painter and court artist, born 1531)
|
Note: Korean painter active in the 16th century and served in the Office of Arts. His was influenced by Chinese landscapes of the Sung dynasty. Yi Jeonggeun was a court painter at the Royal Bureau of Painting (Dohwaseo) active in the mid- Joseon period. He learned the style of An Gyeon from the fifteenth century and worked in the painting style popular in the early Joseon Dynasty. He is also noted as an early adopter of the Southern School of Painting. |
