Yun Jeongrip (Korean painter and government official, 1571-1627)
|
Note: Yun Jeongrip was a painter and civil official active during the mid-Joseon period. Along with his older brother, Yun Uirip (1568-1643), he was esteemed for his poetry and paintings of landscapes and human figures. He was a collector of antique Chinese and Korean paintings and had a keen eye for appreciating painting. From middle age onward, he began to create paintings of his own. His works, which are mainly landscape paintings centered on human figures, reflect the painting style of the Zhe School in terms of brush and ink work. The themes of his work include people observing a waterfall and fishermen on a boat, which were popular at the time. |
