Yun Sungeo (Korean calligrapher and government official, 1596-1668)
|
Note: Yun Sungeo was a calligrapher, civil official, and scholar from the mid-Joseon period. He was the maternal great-grandson of the calligrapher Seong Suchim (1493-1564) and studied calligraphy with his great grandfather. Yun was particularly adept at writing cursive script. He embraced the influences of calligraphers who had a reputation for a distinctive cursive style, such as Hwang Giro (1521-1575) and Yang Saeon (1517-1584), while simultaneously adopting the movement in seventeenth century calligraphy to emphasize power as he created his own style of cursive script. |
