Yun Seondo (Korean calligrapher and poet, 1587-1671)
|
Note: Yun Seondo was a calligrapher and civil official during the mid-Joseon era. He was the great-grandfather of Yun Duseo (1668-1715), a master of human figure and horse paintings. Literary historians consider him one of the leading figures in traditional three-verse Korean poems (sijo). His calligraphy was influenced by the gentle Songxue style popular in the mid-Joseon era, but later he developed his own distinctive script characterized by the use of dark ink and sharp, brisk brushstrokes. In his later years, his style became more composed. |
