Cundy, Thomas, I (English architect, 1765-1825)

Note: Died 28 December 1825. Thomas Cundy I worked in London as a clerk of works to Samuel Pepys Cockerell after apprenticing with a builder in Plymouth. He first exhibited work at the Royal Academy in London in 1795. In 1821, he became the surveyor to the Lord Grosvenor's London estate. He held this position until his death in 1825, at which time he was succeeded by his son Thomas Cundy II. Thomas Cundy I and/or Thomas Cundy II enlarged and renovated Broadlane Hall, Flintshire, in 1809-1810. British architect, father of Thomas Cundy, 1790-1867.
