Tyl, Oldřich (Czech architect, 1884-1939)
|
Note: Studied architecture and civil engineering at the Prague Technical University from 1902-1909. He participated in the formation of the Architects' Club, 1913, and acted as its president from 1914 to 1919. He co-founded the review Stavba in 1922, one of the foremost organs of functionalism in central Europe. The same year, he created the Tekta Society; a business group that remained in practice until 1938. He is responsible for many of the premier examples of Czech purism, and is known for his designs of many commercial and administrative buildings in and around Prague. Czechoslovakian architect. |
