Record Type: Person
Henderson, John (British collector, ca. 1757-1829)

Note: This John Henderson of No. 32 Charlotte Street (see Boyle's) died on Oct. 24, 1829; see Gentleman's Magazine, Vol. 146, p.474. His age is given as 72, so he must have been born ca. 1757. Sotheby's held a sale of his collection on Feb. 19, 1830 (13137). Note that Evelyn Newby, in her index to Farington's diary, confuses him with John Henderson of Montague St., who was an amateur artist; she also got information about his son, who was artistic, confused with the son of the artist John Henderson, so some of the information for both people named John Henderson should apply to this man and his son.
