Huntington, Archer Milton (American heir, 1870-1955)
|
Note: Son of Arabella Huntington and Collis P. Huntington. Inherited life interest in Collis P. Huntington's collection upon his mother's death in 1924; he waived his interest and the collection went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1925. Cofounded the Hispanic Society in New York City and bequeathed the land for the Art Museum at the University of Texas at Austin, founded in 1963. Officially renamed the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art in 1998, it had been known up until then as the Huntington Art Gallery.
