Bell Works (English ceramics manufactory, 1792-ca. 1947)

Note: George Ridgway and his brother Job Ridgway formed a partnership and founded the Bell Works in Shelton for the production of earthenware ca. 1792. When the brothers' partnership dissolved, George remained at the Bell Works, and Job built new premises at Cauldon Place. The sons of Job Ridgway, John and William Ridgway, later acquired the manufactory from their uncle in 1815. When their partnership ended in 1830, William took control of the manufactory. Following the bankruptcy of William in 1848, Bell Works was sold to the Clementson Brothers in 1856, and by 1922, the premises had been taken over by the Bell Pottery Company.
