Carretto, Ilaria del (Italian noble, died 1405)
|
Note: Jacopo della Quercia made her tomb-chest (1405-1407 or 1408) in Lucca Cathedral. It is considered the earliest specifically Renaissance sarcophagus, imitating a Roman type in its winged putti decoration, which stand the full height of its sides and support large swags of fruit. |
