Note: Daughter of Genoese nobleman Gaspare Cattaneo della Volta and Cattocchia Spinola de Candia. Wife of the Italian nobleman Marco Vespucci of Florence. She also is alleged to have been the mistress of Giuliano de' Medici. The subject of portraits by Piero di Cosimo, and by Botticelli (including The Birth of Venus), Vespucci was a renowned beauty. She died at age 22, seemingly of pulmonary tuberculosis.
