Note: Gay African-American composer, pianist, vocalist, and dancer. He is regarded as among the first to combine minimalist processes with elements of pop music, and he often gave his pieces titles that included racial slurs. He graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, collaborated with Pierre Boulez and Zubin Mehta, and taught at the University of Buffalo. |
