Note: Born 25 September 1831; died 27 April 1917. In 1854, Gutekunst opened a photographic studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1878, he purchased the American rights to the phototype process and opened a phototype printing works. In 1902, Gutekunst opened another photographic studio in Philadelphia.
