Irwin, David W. (American businessman, 1831-1894)
|
Note: American businessman in the grain industry, described as one of the oldest members of the Chicago Board of Trade at the time of his death by the Chicago Tribune. Irwin was also a senior member of the firm of Irwin, Green & Co. He was born in Sodus, New York in 1831. Irwin relocated to Chicago in 1853 to enter the grain business. He later started the firm Irwin, Green & Co. with business partner Augustus W. Green. Irwin was also involved in Board of Trade activities, serving as a member on the Committee on Grain Inspection and the Committee on Telegraphing. He died at his home, 35 22nd St., on January 22, 1894.
