Record Type: Corporate Body
Colline de Chaillot manufactory (French carpet workshop, established 1627)

Note: May be considered a workshop of the Savonnerie manufactory. In 1627 Pierre Dupont and his former pupil Simon Lourdet (d 1671) became partners and were granted an 18-year concession for the production of carpets in a disused soap-works (savonnerie) near the Colline de Chaillot in Paris. Due to discord between the two founders, Dupont continued to use the original workshop located under the Louvre.
