Dare, Virginia (English, born 1587)
|
Note: Virginia was the first child of English parents to be born in America. Her parents, Ananias and Elenor Dare, were colonists part of Sir Walter Raleigh's lost colony on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. Approximately forty stone tablets were discovered with the history of the colony. A death toll was listed and Virginia Dare's name was accounted for. The accuracy of the tablets are in question. The tablets presently reside at Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia. |
