|
Note: Bertin was a French sculptor who lived in Versailles. His title was "sculptor in ordinary to the King," yet he was never a member of the Academy. He was responsible for the restoration and cleaning of sculptures at Versailles from 1685 until his death and had a team of restorers who worked under him. He was perhaps recognized as more of a craftsman than an artist. |
