Abu'l-Hasan Mustawfi Ghaffari (Persian official and painter, died ca. 1798)

Note: Abu'l-Hasan Ghaffari was the secretary of Karim Khan Zand (reigned 1757-1779). As a writer he composed the Gulshan-i Murad, which is an important historical source for that period. The watercolorist and painter devoted his talent to the depiction of historical figures and family members. His portraits include those of the Safavid ruler Safi I (1793-1794), Karim Khan and his groom (1795), Shah 'Abbas II, Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad seated and smoking a pipe (1782), Qazi 'Abd al-Muttalib (1794), and Qazi Ahmad (1797-1798). |
