Accardi, Carla (Italian painter, 1924-2014)

Note: Painter studied at the Accademie di Belle Arte in Palermo and Florence. She settled in Rome in 1946. She married the artist Antonio Sanfilippo in 1949. Accardi was the sole female member of the abstractionist group known as "Forma." She began painting on plastic in the 1960s, and her work evolved from traditional wall-mounted paintings to rolled plastic presented more sculpturally. She associated with the Movimento Arte Concreta in Paris in the 1950s, and Continuità group in 1961.
