Wada, Yoshimasa (Japanese composer and musician, 1943-2021)
|
Note: Born in Japan, and active in New York and San Francisco, Wada joined the Fluxus movement in 1968 after meeting George Maciunas. He studied with the North Indian vocalist Pandit Pran Nath. Wada incorporated the use of drone and his works were usually performed at very high volume. He frequently performed his own compositions on Scottish highland bagpipe, and also created his own instruments from metal plumbing pipe and large reed instruments involving multiple bagpipe-like pipes connected to air compressors |
