Mylne, John, II (Scottish architect, died 1657)

Note: John Mylne II is primarily noted for his involvement in his family's sizeable firm of masons, which worked on royal contracts throughout Scotland for most of the 17th century. He also had specialized knowledge of church and fortification repair. His known work includes the re-erection of the Mercat Cross (1617) in Edinburgh, and two elaborate sundials in the Scots necromantic tradition, one at Drummond Castle (1630) and the other at Holyrood (1633). Mylne was Master of the Scone Lodge and Burgess of both Dundee and Edinburgh.
