Note: Avia was a part of the Spanish realist movement that began around 1960 in reaction to the abstract trends of the previous decade. In 1955 She participated in a group show organized around Antonio Lopez-Garcia. Her imagery included elements of social criticism related to the urban poor: a herd of sheep surrounded by modern buildings, streets with walls covered with grafitti, emigrants fleeing the countryside. |
