Inwood, Henry William (English architect, 1794-1843)
|
Note: Henry William Inwood attended the Royal Academy Schools in London, England, and trained with his father William Inwood. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1809. In 1818-1819 he traveled in Greece and Italy. He published 'The Erechtheion at Athens' (1827) and a short essay on ancient design, 'The Resources of Design in the Architecture of Greece, Egypt and other Countries' (1834). According to Macmillan, the Westminster Hospital (1832-1834) was designed by William Inwood's first son Henry William Inwood. According to the Dictionary of Art, Lee (22) and Oxford, Dictionary of National Biography, the Westminster Hospital was designed by William Inwood with the assistance of his second son, Charles Frederick Inwood (1798-1840). He was a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. British architect. |
