Natterer, August (German draftsman and naive artist, 1868-1933)
|
Note: August Natterer, given the pseudonym 'Neter' by his psychiatrist to protect him and his family, suffered from schizophrenia and believed himself to be a relative of Napoleon. He began producing a number of drawings in 1911, executed with fanatic precision with a sharp pencil and ruler. Natterer's art is featured in Hans Prinzhorn's book "Artistry of the mentally ill." |
