Note: Nakamura began painting while he recovered from tuberculosis. He decided to pursue painting professionally at age nineteen and studied with Kuroda Seiki at the Hakuba-kai Institute. He later joined the Pacific Western Painting Society and won and award at the Society's exhibition of 1909.
