Nun Painter (Etruscan vase painter)

Note: The Nun Painter is so called for a nun-like head on a vase attributed to him. The artist mainly painted large profile head and his work has a portrait-like quality. Eight vases are attributed to this artist who may have been active in Volterra. He is considered a part of the Volterrae Group along with the Hesione Painter, the Painter of the Pigmy Trumpeter, and the Painter of the Tuscan Column. |
