Gumley, John (English cabinetmaker and glassmaker, active ca. 1691-1729)
|
Note: Gumley was a highly successful craftsman who worked during the reign of Queen Anne. He specialized in the manufacture of plate glass, although his firm made furniture of all kinds for Hampton Court Palace, for the 1st Duke of Montrose's lodgings in the Drygate, Glasgow, and for a Mr. Paul Foley, from whom an extensive bill exists. The furnishings consist mostly of mirrors, but desks and bureaux also survive. |
