Vincennes Porcelain Manufactory (French porcelain factory, active ca. 1740-1756)

Note: Founded in 1740, Vicennes was run by a former caroenter who discovered the secret formula for brilliant white soft-paste porcelain, Five years later, the company was granted a royal warrant. The pieces often copied designs by Meissen. They produced numerous porcelain flowers monted on bronze stalks to create eleborate bouquets placed in vases or used to decorate lighting fixtures. A new period began in 1748, when goldsmith Jean-Claude Duplessis introduced a range of different forms including figures inspired by the paintings of François Boucher. The factory was moved to special facilities at Sévres in 1756.
