Note: Student at the Saint Martin's Lane Academy in London. In 1767 and 1783, Paine published a selection of his designs. Member of the Society of Artists of Great Britain (predecessor of the Royal Academy) and president from 1770 to 1772. British architect, father of James Paine (1745-1829).
