Hoyt, Charles Albert (American merchant, 1839-1904)
|
Note: American rubber merchant. His father was Reverand William Henry Hoyt, noted for leaving the Protestant Episcopal ministry to become a priest of the Roman Catholic Church. Hoyt attended the University of Vermont and Georgetown College and in 1861 he entered the firm Poppenhusen & Konig of New York. He joined the firm Goodyear hard rubber patents in 1872. He also worked for 25 years as treasurer for the India Rubber Comb Company and the Goodyear Hard Rubber Company. He died in Pasadena, California while visiting his son, Albert Sherman Hoyt, on April 18, 1903.
