Note: American businessman and broker, born in Washington. He served in the navy during the American Civil War, and was on the San Jacinto under Captain Wilkes when it captured Mason and Slidell. After the war he entered the insurance business and became a broker. He was a member of the firm of T. Pearsall & Co., and served for ten years as President of the Pacific Mail Steamship Company. He married Helen Middleton of Washington D.C. Houston died at the age 64.
