Record Type: Person
Janaab Pakal (Mayan ruler, died 612)

Note: Pakal’s dynastic position is not entirely certain, and it is thought that he never fully ascended to kingship in his own right. He was the father of Lady Sak K'uk', one of the rare queens regnant of Mayan history. He should not be confused with his grandson, K'inich Janaabʻ Pakal, who reigned for 68 years and was responsible for the construction of Palenque’s most notable surviving inscriptions and monumental architecture. d".
