Note: Czech modernist painter was influenced by cubism early in his career. Bohumil Kubiǐsta, his friend from 1910, played a large role in his life. Zyrzavý was a painter of symbolist and fantastic works. He was a member of the Sursum group from 1911 to 1913 and participated in the second exhibition of the group in 1912. Around 1920 he began painting melancholy landcapes from his childhood. Later, Brittany and Venice provided material for his work.
