Ibn Hayyim, Joseph (Spanish illuminator, active 1476, of Jewish origin)
|
Note: He is one of the few known, named illuminators from this period. He signed only one manuscript, the Kennicott Bible (now in Oxford, Bodleian Library). His date of activity and location are surmised from the date of 1476 and place, A Coruña, where this manuscript was copied. He may have been the son or other relative of Abraham ben Judah ibn Hayyim, who was the putative author of a treatise on colors in the Portuguese language and Hebrew letters, composed in the 15th century. |
