Kalns, Ojars (Latvian architect, born 1932, active in Canada from 1950)
|
Note: Kalns emigrated to Brampton, Ontario, Canada from Latvia in 1950. He studied at McMaster University from 1952 to 1953 and moved to Vancouver in 1956. He received his architecture degree from the University of British Columbia in 1962. He studied under and worked briefly for Arthur Erickson. He also worked for C.B.K. Van Norman and Associates from 1964 to 1968. He was in private practice from 1968 to 1975, which he renamed (after the sudden passing of his mentor, C.B.K. Van Norman) Kalns Van Norman from 1975 to 1986. He currently runs the firm Ojars Kalns Architect. He was admitted as a Member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1965. |
