Cleghorn, Hugh Francis Clarke (Scottish physician and botanist, 1820-1895, active in India)
|
Note: Scottish physician, botanist and forester. He was grandon of Hugh Clegman (1752-1837). Cleghorn was appointed to Madras Medical Service, Mysore, India in 1842. He became professor of botany at Madras in 1852, and the first conservator of forests in Madras in 1856. Cleghorn later taught forestry at the University of St Andrews in the late 1860s. |
