Record Type: Person
Painter of Naples 1959 (Greek vase painter, active ca. 350-300 BCE in Lucania)

Note: An important contemporary of the Roccanova and Primato Painters. His work is somewhat influenced by that of the Brooklyn-Budapest Painter, particularly in the decorative patterns on his nestorides; he is also slightly influenced by the Choephoroi Painter. Like other Lucanian vase painters, he repeats stock figures and patterns, but his range of subjects is greater than that of the Roccanova Painter. Based on the differences in the clay they used, the two painters probably worked at different locations. His workshop may have been located in the same place as that of the Primato Painter and Armento has been suggested as the most likely place. The Acrobat and Dawlish Painters are among his followers.

Additional Notes:
French .....
Italian .....
